Run to the Beat: Fun, Sweat and Tears!

Teresa before the run

On Sunday 25 September, me and two fellow WCRF staff members took part in the Run to the Beat half-marathon. It was a very hot day for running but there was a nice breeze at times. It was fairly flat route with the odd horrible incline but thankfully not too many of those!

Great atmosphere along the whole course; the music ‘power’ stations made the event fun and gave a real energy boost, along … Continue Reading

London Marathon: WCRF UK supporters on Tower Bridge

WCRF UK supporters cheer on London Marathon runners

The crowds were out in force for yesterday’s London Marathon and I was one of those screaming masses, yelling out support for as many runners whose names I could spot on their vests as they ran, jogged, hobbled or walked on by WCRF UK’s second cheering point along the Embankment. With ‘only’ one mile to go before the finish, it was … Continue Reading

London Marathon runners: raising money for cancer prevention

A huge thanks to all the runners who raised money for WCRF in the London Marathon yesterday, as well as the crowds of supporters who turned out in their droves to cheer them on.

In warm spring sunshine, the 26 miles took its toll on a lot of runners but, as far as we know, all the WCRF participants got safely across the finish line. A lot of them hobbled into … Continue Reading

Good luck in the Marathon

Good luck to all 35 runners bravely taking to the streets of London today to run on behalf of World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).

We’ll be at Tower Bridge and on the Embankment to cheer you on, hopefully giving you an extra boost and taking your mind off your sore feet.

A huge thanks from everyone at WCRF for the months of hard training and determination.

London charity events: raising money for cancer prevention

We often get calls at this time of year asking which London charity events people can take part in to raise money for our cancer prevention work.

Perhaps it’s something to do with the change in the weather or simply that people realise this is the time of year when London charity events start to come thick and fast.

The good news is that if you are interested in taking part in charity events in … Continue Reading

Can you Beat the Banana?

We have announced that our Beat the Banana! fun run in Hyde Park will this year take place on Thursday, May 12.

Held in Cancer Prevention Week, the event is a 5km run that involves participants chasing a life-sized banana around the course and trying to beat it to the finish line.

Last year’s run was the biggest in the event’s history and this year we are hoping to raise even more money to help … Continue Reading

His traditional form of transport is a sleigh and a team of reindeers.

But soon Santa will be using his own two feet to raise money for charity – and you could be part of it.

Adrian Kane: marathon car push

The latest edition of Real People magazine has an article about Adrian Kane.

Adrian, you might remember, raised money for World Cancer Research Fund and the Stroke Association by pushing a car the distance of a marathon.

It was an amazing achievement, so it’s great that Real People has decided to cover it!
